We are in our great 21st century with vast and developed technology. We have evolved rapidly in the last couple of centuries and we, as humankind, are still working on it.

But let’s question ourselves, did we really evolve from our past life and living modern life with modern thinking? Or have we only got past through the old system of technology? Did we really change our view of our society, our insecure mentality, our bad religious practices and many other brutal mentality towards society and specifically to certain sections of society?

Let’s talk about one of the views of society towards women. Women have been and are still considered to be marriage material in many parts of the world. As a woman, the pressure to get married is real, moreover for a woman who is from a lower and illiterate background, it’s x100 times more real. With relatives whispering “what have you even achieved, if you haven’t gotten married yet?” With thousands of irrelevant stories for her to make herself insult. After a certain age if you’re not married, you’re pitied more than you’re respected. Can it be because she’s fat? Or she’s dark? Too thin? Too busy at work?

This generation I tell you, ruins our culture by all these false statements and irrelevant advice.

However, if you listen to them & make marriage your life goal above your career, then “ My god! Gold digger alert.”

Regardless of whether a girl is in a relationship or not, the pressure is REAL.

In many orthodox families in our India, there is also a custom that if the family has both a male child and a female child and due to certain reasons of male child, he is not getting any bride because of his inabilities and education, these family forces the female child to marry someone from the male child’s to-be-bride family so that male child can marry ‘the bride’. This is an example of exchanges in families for marriage arrangements. Families really force female child a lot in all kind of ways which makes her certainly feel useless to the family and after she gives sacrifice for her brother and goes in the new family, where she has to deal with a hell lot of problems, she at last be in the position to not to speak to anyone for anything, these type of culture had destroyed so many of women’s lives and families with social burdens.

To the woman hearing “When you will marry”- Don’t let it break you. Don’t let it break your dreams or demean your worth. Don’t let it rule your life. Don’t let them throw you between gold diggers & a lonely, over ambitious woman; for the sake of their own entertainment and so-called “Cultural marriage arrangements”.
